About Us
Our mission at Economic Restoration is to create thriving, resilient economies that work harmoniously with the environments and communities that sustain them.
Driven by a commitment to fixing what’s broken, our aim is to make social and environmental progress profitable, helping businesses and regions build a sustainable foundation for future generations. By aligning economic and environmental restoration, we work with communities and industries to create social and economic values that are rooted in improving ecological values. Our mission is supported through local and regional planning, research and education, sustainable industry development, and other strategic efforts.
Background & Purpose
Economic Restoration Services was born out of a need to develop enduring solutions to social, environmental, and economic challenges faced by an increasing mass of humanity in the US and abroad. Our founder’s three decades of work and research in business, conservation and restoration was woven into the book Ecosystems as Models for Restoring Our Economies, a systemic approach to sustainability. Nature’s blueprints for economic restoration include three foundational components that must be managed to achieve a sustainable economy: diversity, energy, and trade. Over the past century these components have been increasingly managed at global scales, leading to significant social, economic, and economic challenges for nations of all development levels. The decentralized nature of complex ecosystems makes clear that economic diversity, energy, and trade must be managed at regional scales. Economic restoration is not only possible, but it is our obligation.
What is Economic Restoration?
Current references to economic restoration are related to the economic value of ecological restoration (e.g., the restoration economy), or beautifying urban areas. Those references have no relation to restoring economic processes or functions. Guiding our work to build sustainable economies, we use this definition of Economic restoration: The process of rebuilding economic diversity, trade, and energy systems within a regional economy. To learn more about the ecological and economic underpinnings of economic restoration, hard copy and digital copies of Ecosystems as Models for Restoring Our Economies are available by following this link.
